A sculptural composition consisting of an arrangement of miscellaneous objects or found materials.
This was a fun assignment. Our theme had to be two opposing sides conflicting. I chose to do right-brain vs. left brain. My idea for this theme came about when I purchased the pencil box at the Antique store in St.Jacob's. On the inside, the boy who once owned the box [I'm assuming] engraved his name multiple times inside the lid - Rae Thomas. As soon as I opened the box, and saw his name stamped and written all over it, I immediately wondered what kind of boy he was, and what sorts of things he used the pencil box for. Was he creative? Did he draw, or write stories? Or did he like solving math problems, or examining bugs? So I decided to have the two sides of the brain colliding within the box. I also made sure that the box could still be closed, to symbolize the mystery of Rae Thomas - I will never really know who he was, or what he was truly like.
